Description of piece:
By creatively using gold, pink, black and white, the artist Prince Lorenzo delights viewers that contemplate his painting and are introduced to the meaning of refined elegance. Gold stands for wealth and power, both attributes granted to Caterina De’ Medici by birth and marriage, from her noble origin and her husband’s royalty. The gold color connects with the precious jeweled crown and a sophisticate pearls’ necklace with the Chanel logo that highlights the Queen exquisite refinement. The Pink color completes the celebration of Victorious Femininity suggested by the artwork. Lorenzo celebrates a merger of two great Houses from Florence, Italy, and France. The innovations introduced by Caterina at the French court inspired a concept of elegance to the world. Black and white outstand in the precious original Chanel jacket completes the circle of power and wisdom represented by the painting that now includes also a strong connection that Coco Chanel created with Scotland, which here is represented by the Scottish Houndstooth design on the jacket, so much used in contemporary times by Chanel, as well as by other greater Fashion Designers.
